# Interior wall color previews for painting estimates

> Use Paintsight to preview interior wall colors from estimate photos, get homeowner sign-off on the shade and sheen before your crew arrives.

Interior wall jobs are where color disputes most often start. Before your crew opens a can, use Paintsight to show the homeowner exactly how their chosen color will read in their space — shade, sheen, and all — and capture their written approval. The process takes a few minutes at the estimate and eliminates back-and-forth once the job is underway.

## Taking the best photos

A good photo makes for a convincing preview. Follow these guidelines when you shoot the room:

* **Step back far enough to capture the full wall.** A tight shot of one corner gives the homeowner too little context. Stand in the doorway or opposite corner so the entire wall is in frame.
* **Include adjacent walls, trim, and flooring.** When the homeowner sees the new color next to the existing trim, ceiling, and floor, they can make a more confident decision.
* **Shoot in natural light when possible.** Open the blinds and turn off overhead lights. Natural light shows the true undertone of a color far better than warm incandescent bulbs.

## Selecting the surface

In Paintsight, select the **wall** surface type when creating your preview. This applies the AI color to the flat wall area while leaving trim, doors, and ceilings untouched.

For accent walls, create a separate preview for that surface rather than trying to capture it in the same pass. One preview per surface keeps the approval record clean and unambiguous.

## Common paint details for interior walls

When you fill in the paint details, choose from any of the five supported brands:

* Sherwin-Williams
* Benjamin Moore
* Behr
* Farrow & Ball
* Dulux

For sheen, match the finish to the room type:

| Room type                        | Recommended sheen   |
| -------------------------------- | ------------------- |
| Ceilings                         | Flat / matte        |
| Living rooms, bedrooms, hallways | Eggshell or satin |
| Kitchens and bathrooms           | Satin or semi-gloss |

<Tip>
  If the homeowner wants to compare two or three color options, generate one preview per color from the same photo. Send all previews in a single approval request so they can review them side by side. Each preview they sign off on is saved separately to the job record.

## Example

<Card title="Benjamin Moore Hale Navy HC-154 — living room wall" icon="paint-roller">
  A contractor photographed the main living room wall from the doorway in natural light, then selected the **wall** surface and entered the following paint details:

  * **Brand:** Benjamin Moore
  * **Color name:** Hale Navy
  * **Color code:** HC-154
  * **Sheen:** Eggshell

  The homeowner received a preview showing the before-and-after comparison, reviewed the color and sheen on the approval page, and signed off the same day the estimate was sent.
